So, R has lost 30+ pounds since Christmas. One day a few weeks ago, he walked out into the kitchen with his jeans pulled up past his navel, almost to his ribs- Steve Urkel style. I, of course, rolled my eyes and told him what a goof he was. When B walked in, he said "Wow Dad, is that a new belt?" Over the next 10 minutes, he alternately wore his pants Urkel-style, or down on his hips, as usual. Each time he changed, he asked the kids if they noticed anything different. I was standing off to the side laughing at their inability to notice it. One of the guesses was new glasses.??? He finally had to tell them.
Fast forward to this week. He made his first-ever truly impulse purchase, a TV. Now, we've always had a TV card in our computer, but never actually bought a set. R likes good monitors, and I have a thing against massive TVs, so it has always worked.* ....R set up the new TV in place of the monitor. He was just testing it out, when the kids came in. The first response from our two oldest was "Yea, you got a remote!" If only it were that simple (and cheap). In the kids' defense, they look very similar, the TV is only a few inches bigger than the monitor was. Still, I remember promising that when I was a parent, I would never laugh at my kids, at least never to their faces. Boy, I had no clue how many times I would break that promise! They are just too great.
*-Now I can snuggle with my honey on the couch and watch a show together. The monitor really was too small to watch across the room, so we'd end up sitting in his office with one good chair and a 'camping chair'. It's worked, but I told him I missed snuggling on the couch.
So how did such a type-A, detail-oriented person get kids who can't tell when someone has got his jeans up to his ribs? Sheesh!

FUNNY! (We thought our TV was pretty big several years ago when we bought it. You know, not "Big Screen", but a pretty decent size. I can't sit on our couches and watch it anymore. And our living room isn't that big! We either grab a ton of pillows and snuggle up on the floor or drag the 2-seat couch up in front of the TV and snuggle. Good thing we don't use it very often!)
Congrats to R! What's he doing?
Drinking LOTS of water - close to a gallon a day, and smaller portions.
