Well, after friends and family have joined the online blog world, I finally decided that I'd better catch up. Besides, now I can update (all at once) anyone who cares to look.

First I have to tell you about the wonderful bike crash I had last week. I was riding my bike and "walking" the dog. He loves this, because he can actually get a good run. We've done this many times before. About two months ago he ran out of the house and got hit by a car. Ever since, he's been afraid of cars, which is not a bad thing. Because of this newfound fear, though, I have to be on the street side of him. As we were racing down the street, he decided to run on the other side of the light post. Needless to say, 75 pounds of running dog on a 5 foot leash stopped me (and my bike) pretty quick. The gear wheel on my bike got bent. So I won't be riding 'til I can get that fixed. But then again, I don't think I'll be riding this week anyway. The leg that hit the curb has a bruise the size of my hand when the fingers are spread wide, with residual bruising down to my knee. The rest of me didn't get it nearly as rough, but I keep finding little bruises in new places. I don't remember if I'm a spring or a summer, but either way, yellow and green are NOT my colors. Purple, and deep pink, however, look kind of nice. Not that I'd recommend them this way!

So that was last Thursday. Today is Wednesday. I've made an effort recently to not be busy with household chores when the kids get home from school, but to take time out and greet them individually. Today, I was standing on the front porch. As the kids ran up, a bird that had been in the bushes got spooked, and flew into the entryway. With nowhere else to land, it chose my head. For those of you who don't remember, we used to have a pet bird. So it wasn't a big deal. Immediately upon landing, though, it showed evidence of its fear...on my hair, and my neck, and my shirt, and then took off again towards a tree. The kids laughed SO hard! Seriously, for probably 5 minutes, the house rang with "A bird pooped on Mom's head! Dad! Dad! A bird pooped on Mom's head!" I didn't waste any time getting in the shower, and things had calmed down by the time I got out. I think it was actually worth the grossness to see them have that much fun at my expense. I mean, really, how often do you get to see a parent in that kind of situation?? Although.... It reminds me of Mom's 'I swallowed a bug' dance at girl's camp.

I can't promise to always have such entertaining tales, and I certainly hope I don't!

Until next time...

Somehow I missed your blog, and just found it, so, great to hear from you! I love the Spring/Summer comment. Very clever. And we remember your pet bird!
